Introduction

Recently, on Friday, March 19th, CDC (U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) has announced new school guidelines. Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, Director of NIAID (U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases) supported the new guidelines made by CDC. Read on to learn more about the changes!

What were the previous rules and what changes have been made?

Here are some of the previous rules and the changes that have been made to them:

  • Previous: 6 ft. social distancing was mandatory; New: 3 ft. social distancing is okay as long as they wear masks.

  • Previous: Students had to quarantine for 10 days if they came in contact with a COVID-infected person; New: They now have to quarantine for 14 days.

  • Previous: 6 ft distance in common places; New: Nothing new; still 6ft distance in common places

These new guidelines can result in a negative and a positive way. It depends on us how and if we follow the safety guidelines.

Will easing the COVID guidelines be a danger for us?

Easing the COVID guidelines could be a huge danger for us, because we are getting more exposed to the virus by doing this. Recently, the CDC eased guidelines for those who got both doses of the COVID vaccine. This might be a dangerous decision because getting the COVID vaccine doesn’t mean that you can’t get COVID. It also doesn’t mean that you can’t transfer COVID to another person. Keeping these two important facts in mind, we should still follow the COVID protocols even though we are vaccinated.

COVID mask guidelines are being loosened, but cases are still rising

According to Seattle Times, mask guidelines are being loosened by CDC. That may be good news for some people, but for Washing it is a bad one. Reports say Washington has entered the FOURTH wave of Covid-19 infections. As written in the previous paragraph, it may not be the wisest decision to ease COVID guidelines and this news about Washington warns us even more.

Conclusion

In conclusion, we can’t be sure that CDC has made a good decision. They might be putting us in danger but no matter what decision CDC makes, we have to keep following the previous guidelines so that we can stay 100% safe and sound.
